Live Music Meets Social Distancing

Times are hard, but even if we’re social distancing, the essence of community doesn’t have to stop. In fact, it’s more important than ever. Despite all the recent hardships, it’s been so great to see the world coming together in this time of struggle- and what better way to connect with others than through music? Whether it’s attending live shows, talking about your favorite songs or anticipating the release of an album, music is best enjoyed with others.

“Music is what tells us that the human race is greater than we realize.” – Napoléon Bonaparte. Here at the Real Life Real Music Foundation, many of our efforts are focused on helping singers and songwriters that want to spread good in the world, and we are definitely seeing that taking place in the midst of COVID-19. Just because live concerts are a no-go, doesn’t mean that music has to stop. We’ve seen musicians from all different genres regularly sharing videos and live streams so that they’re able to connect with their fans, and play songs right from their own homes. Even more so than for us, music is their lives!

Though our world can seem messy at times, there are a lot of good people out there! Because of this outbreak, many people- including musicians, have lost their source of income. These live streams act as a way for fans to support artists financially- but many are asking for donations to outside charities and organizations that are providing to those who need it most. It’s so refreshing to see people supporting one another!

Thanks to the power of the internet, these live streams are ultimately serving as a source of entertainment and socialization for everyone currently stuck in their homes and may be the brightest point in someone’s otherwise gloomy day. Like always, music continues to bond people, spark creativity, evoke emotion and spread love, which we could all use a little more of right now! Stay safe out there and enjoy your quarantine, folks!
