As you may know, foster care has always been important to our organization. With one of our founders, Kyle Hutton having been adopted at six weeks old, and having recently been through fostering to adopting two young girls, the foster care cause is one that is near and dear to our hearts.
After a mission trip to an orphanage in Haiti, Kyle and his family came home only to realize how many local children needed help as well. And so, they began fostering. After getting plugged into the community, Kyle wanted to do all he could to educate others on this important cause. What better way to do that than through music?
A few years back, Kyle and iconic Texas singer songwriter Radney Foster combined forces to write the The Foster EP, which led to traveling all over the state, educating and performing songs on the A Place to Stay Tour for Foster Awareness. Born out of combined compassion, the duo set out to use their craft as a way to make a real difference in the lives of children.
The project’s goal was to educate local communities, and spread awareness for thousands of local children that need a place to stay. Additionally, it aimed to introduce potential foster & adoptive families to organizations and resources that provide education and aid for getting started!
From the words of Kyle Hutton… “It’s hard to believe, but there are currently over 16,000 children in the Texas Foster Care System, with more children joining each and every day. Even harder to believe is that nearly 4,000 of those children are currently available for adoption, meaning they have little to no chance to reunite with their biological families. By the time they turn 18, they are left to face the world without the love and support of a forever family.”
We hold the power to make a huge difference in the lives of these children, by simply providing them with a little love, and a place to stay. Here at the Real Life Real Music Foundation, we are immensely proud to have played a part in this project and to have inspired many families to foster along the way!
